Preparation for Independence
Providing young people with opportunities to explore the reality of living independently, social and life skills training, work experience, including the possibility of setting up Social Enterprise schemes on the site (e.g. production of forestry related items).
Support & Therapeutic Input
We are able to tailor our support to the needs of particular groups – Counselling/family support, healthy lifestyle advice, parenting skills, coping with stress, interaction with the resident animals as appropriate (retired ponies, etc.) crafts and musical activities and team building are all possibilities.
The owners have contacts with a number of professionals, aware of the ethos at Wood Farm, who have experience in working with disadvantaged children and adults, and who have expressed interest in being involved with the project. Their collective experience shows that ‘grounded’, secure adults can only enhance the stability of families in the future.
The Environment & Sustainability
We are committed to providing opportunities for all those coming to the farm to explore a sustainable lifestyle, and we plan discussion groups/workshops to further this aim. We provide opportunities for organic food production, and explore energy and water conservation thought wind and solar power and recycling.
Wildlife & Conservation
If you come to Wood Farm you can take part in nature walks, badger and deer watching, and explore the flora and fauna in the area, which has been completely untouched by modern farming methods and chemicals. Our focus is to protect habitats, raise awareness of the importance of sustaining an ecological balance, and our message is always to respect the part played by nature in maintaining the environment.
